February, Thu 28th – Council Budget Setting Protest
3:30–6:30pm, St Helens Sq, York (near Bettys tea rooms)
On Thursday 28th the council will be voting through its budget for the following two years, this will include a cuts package totalling roughly £20 million. But we believe the council can do more to alleviate the worst cuts, such as making a serious effort to collect and allocate funds from council tax of empty homes.
From 3:30 – we will have blank placards for writing messages to councillors as they enter the Guildhall, and we will be petitioning for the library campaign and handing out fliers about the cuts in York.
From 5:00 – a lively array of anti-cuts poetry, music and speeches from local artists and cuts campaigners.
Please share and invite friends to our Council Budget Setting Protest Facebook event

Organised by York Feminist Network, we will be marching around York city centre under the banner “Women Unite”, celebrating the gains and achievements made by women throughout history.
The cuts nationally and locally are disproportionally affecting women. Join York Stop the Cuts on the march to help raise the issues and encourage us to stand up against this injustice.
